Before the era of suburban golf villages and modern earthmoving equipment, the landscapes of golf were shaped by idiosyncrasy, intuition and intimacy. This was the classic era of American golf that left us an extraordinary legacy of courses such as Pine Valley, Cypress Point, Pebble Beach, Cherry Hills, San Francisco, Baltusrol—and Moraine.
Moraine enjoys a place among this elite company having been named one of the 100 Best Classic Courses in the United States by Golfweek magazine thanks to its qualities of design, aesthetics, conditioning and memorability.
While one might think such a celebrated course would be aloof and remote, the opposite is true. Rather than stiffness, there is spontaneity. By design, Club membership is limited, and so there are no tee times. Even on a Saturday afternoon there’s no pressure to rush a new golfer. And the Club’s head pro, Brent Sipe and his staff welcome the opportunity to pair golfers up anytime they arrive without a game. Nestled in a central location, members travel only a few miles from home or business to enjoy golf the way it was meant to be played.
