679 State Route 79,
Windsor, New York 13865-2727
Golden Oak – with its upper and lower designs- combines testy golf holes and rugged hillside views on the front side...with a shorter, compact layout on the back. The 1st hole is its longest, a 500-yard dogleg (par-5) past willow, rising gently to an elevated green bordered by ash trees. A dogleg at #2 marches back down to the clubhouse.
At #3, stay left center- away from the fairway's right side, where a large white oak guards a thick tree line (#1 handicap). The 4th is deceptively short, over ponds to an island green, its back apron emblazoned with a “Golden Oak” topiary: the signature hole.
The 5th is a tough uphill dogleg (ladies #1 handicap).
Three consecutive par-3's follow at #6, #7, and #8, built tightly into the side hill around tall white pine. From the 9th tee are views of four ponds- two of them hazards on the way home.
The back is 700 yards shorter than the front, featuring smaller greens and a lovely par-5 (#12) curling along the Susquehanna. With a handful of short par-4s, the back can be an ego-booster...but watch for the “saucer green” at #17.
Finishing at #18 is a scant dogleg home around swampland: play it straight and safe to fairway.
