Metropolis Country Club was founded in 1922 when members of the Metropolis Club of New York City acquired the original course from Century Country Club. The course, originating in 1904, was designed originally by Herbert Strong, and subsequently A.W.Tillinghast, who designed several other holes holes. The course was enhanced by Joe Finger and then updated and renovated in 1994 by Ken Dye.
It is a challenging Par 71 golf course featuring many doglegs, uneven lies, and almost 6,800 yards in length with undulating greens that are a test of every aspect of the best player’s shot-making ability. Metropolis is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the Metropolitan Area, and our signature hole, the sixth hole, is ranked by golf publications as one of the 18 best in the Metropolitan Area and among the 500 best holes in the world. Over the years, our reputation as a championship course and our strong support of local Golf Associations has allowed Metropolis to host every major Met Area Professional and Amateur Championship.
