Monroe Country Club first opened for play in 1922. It was designed by William S. Flynn. Mr. Flynn was also the designer of such notable courses as The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., and Shinnecock Hills on Long Island in NY.
The course places a premium on the player's ability to master their short game on the par 4's and 5's while the par 3's require an accurate tee shot in order to score well. Monroe is a 9-hole course offering 18 teeing areas that provide a variety of challenges for those who desire to play 18 holes. The design of the course takes advantage of the property's changes in terrain and "Creegan's Creek" which comes into play on four holes.
