The private MacGregor Downs Country Club combines history and heritage with the modern amenities of today. Nestled on the shores of Lake MacGregor, within the tranquil setting of the well-established MacGregor Downs neighborhood in Cary, North Carolina (mere minutes from Raleigh), the Club offers championship golf and tennis facilities, private dining, and a year-round social calendar for the entire family.

Our 18-hole private golf course is annually rated as one of the best courses in the Southeastern United States because of its impeccable playing conditions. Designed by Willard Byrd, one of America’s leading golf course architects, our 18-hole course is annually rated as one of the best golf courses in the Southeastern United States. In the early 1970s, MacGregor Downs hosted the Liggett & Myers PGA Tour Match Play Championships and currently hosts the Stitch Intercollegiate each year. Some of the greatest names in golf have walked our fairways, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino.

In more recent years, the Club has hosted greats such as Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, David Duval, and Davis Love III. New members have numerous opportunities to meet and join other members on the links. Single players are often paired with others by our Pro Shop Staff and become fast friends! A wide variety of Club tournaments are scheduled each year, catering to the diverse needs of the golf membership. The Tartan, our Member-Guest tournament, is one of the premier golf and social events in the area.
