The Trident Golf Club Course, formerly known as Sandpiper Bay Golf Club, was designed by Mark Mahannah and opened in 1963. With wide fairways, shallow bunkers and small greens, the course has often been described as “player friendly”. But don’t let that description fool you. The greens can be a bit tricky to putt and water comes into play on about 50% of the holes. Many celebrities such as Jackie Gleason, Perry Como, Joe Namath, and PGA Legends Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead have all strode the fairways of this course. In the early 1970's the course hosted the LPGA Sears World Classic and has twice hosted a Senior PGA Championship.
