The Chippanee Golf Club is an 18-hole course located on 140 acres of gently rolling terrain nine hundred feet above sea level. The front 9 was built by local golfer and industrialist Herbert Lagerblade in 1923. The back 9 was added by the membership in the late 1950's. Although the course plays to a par 70 from the blue tees at 6310 yards, it is an old fashioned "members course" with small challenging greens and tight narrow fairways. The course consists of 3 acres of bent grass greens, twenty acres of bentgrass fairways, and two acres of ryegrass teeing area. There are 33 sand traps throughout the course with water coming into play on the par 5 fourth hole and the par 3 eleventh hole. A complete driving range and a practice putting green is available for members. The course is also landscaped with a large variety of annual and perennial flower beds with new flowers added every year.
