Lakewood Golf Club, a sparkling resort member of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, had its beginnings in 1944. Perry Maxwell, the designer of the Tulsa Southern Hills Country Club and site of the 2001 U.S. Open, brought his extraordinary skills to Lakewood. His creations, Dogwood and Azalea, opened in 1947 and were the first professional quality courses in south Alabama. Rolling fairways and tight greens, spring-fed lakes, meandering streams, and stands of mature trees make the 36 holes of Lakewood both beautiful and challenging. You'll feel the rich history of Lakewood as you play beneath 200-year-old oaks down a carpet of green, past crystal-clear lakes and streams. Recent updates and ongoing world-class grounds maintenance assure your experience is cutting-edge on this historic course.
WEDDINGS: There has always been something magical, something indefinable, about a grand Southern wedding. And nowhere does this spirit shine more splendidly than at the Grand. With its wondrous elixir of gracious traditions, glorious settings, and personal touches, the Grand has played host to inspired celebrations for decades. Imagine now and forever framed against a gracious Gulf Coast setting where rich, storied history whispers in every gesture, and every detail is attended to in contemporary perfection.
MEMBERSHIP: The benefits and membership privileges at the Lakewood Club transcend prestige or savings alone. There is truly no way to adequately communicate the significance of being a part of the Lakewood Club experience. Dating to 1921, the Club's roots run as deep as the 200-year-old oaks that grace the property. Add the world-class lure of the Grand Hotel and it is easy to understand how this area and facility attracts celebrities from around the globe.
