The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Silver Lakes is set on rolling terrain at the edge of the Talladega National Forest between Anniston and Gadsden, Alabama. The aptly named championship nine-hole courses, the Mindbreaker, Heartbreaker, and Backbreaker combine for some of the best golf on the RTJ Trail and are RTJ's Silver Lakesanchored by a number of strong par-fours that play to pedestal greens perched 30 to 40 feet above fairway level. Like most Robert Trent Jones courses, Silver Lakes features multiple tee selections, with up to 12 on some holes, allowing any golfer a chance for par.
Slightly easier than the others with a slope of 148 and USGA Rating of 76.1, the Mindbreaker golf course demands shotmaking at its finest. The Heartbreaker’s 450-yard par-4 ninth hole is a thing of beauty with water rippling down the entire left side, just be sure not to slice. Many consider the Heartbreaker the most challenging nine holes on the whole trail! A photographers dream, The Backbreaker boasts beautiful views of the Appalachian foothills from its elevated tees. The signature par-5 seventh hole is a 623-yard thriller that brings water into play not once but twice.
